So the actual day of our trip went like this, we left at 4 o'clock and when, 3 1/2 hours later Joe barely mentioned that he didn't really like the idea of paying the money for the hotel, I may have (with incredible reserve of course) jumped up and down in my seat and quietly suggested we stop at Starbucks and drive straight through . Hehe we got there a little after two in the morning :)!
I think the most fun part was coming into the cabin at after 2AM trying to make noise as we walked up to make sure Dad didn't mistake us for animals and come out with the gun! After calling gently upstairs "Mom, Dad, its us". The first thing we heard was "REALLY?!"
Katey & Nana had to take a ride! I know she doesn't look thrilled, but thats only because she wanted to drive!
She was much happier when she got her way (go figure :) ).
She much preferred to "alk"...
...but sometimes a tired girl has to relax.
But the very next day Pappy hurt his foot and although the rest of us took some walks we chose to do our site seeing by truck from then on.
and asking for them :)
Joe and I also found time to snap a quick 13 week preggy belly shot...finally :)
And we found time for lots of playing outside :)
In the hammock (Pappy 's hilarious!)
Taking walks with Daddy...
Running around...
Playing in Nana's garden (and even trying some things we weren't so sure about).
And when it got to hot, which it didn't often but anything was a good excuse to go inside and have some...
"Pwees Pappy"!
Ice cream! Which Katey conveniently just calls "ice" and asks for all the time..along with actual ice which she just loves to chew :)
We also found quite a bit of time just to sit on the porch and watch the squirrels, birds and deer. Katey LOVED the animals...
even the ones that weren't quite so alive...but at least she shared :)
But she didn't' like when they wouldn't share back :(.
But some were real and did move..very quickly when katey was trying to be quiet.
watching a buck with Nana
(look close & you can see it out there)
"ooo"
Watching very intently!
I loved this pose. It was hard to capture but she crouches down on her haunches and, placing her elbows on her knees, puts both fists under her chin calling the deer to "come here!". I LOVE IT!
But they just didn't' seem to listen so she just had to settle with bossing her inside animals around.
I wanted to share with you some of the scenery around the property.
This is the cabin from down below at the garden. The way to come in is up in back to the left adn the little cabin is off to the right diagonally.
This is the trail down to the "honeymoon cabin" or little cabin. Its the cabin that my parents built before their bigger one and Joe and I spent our honeymoon night in it thus forever dubbing it the "honeymoon cabin" :)
Standing on that trail this is a shot back at the big cabin.
Standing on the same trail if you look really close you can see the specialty wilderness outhouse. It even has a great picture screen door so you can watch the animals during your stay :)
And this is the honeymoon cabin (about 200 yards away from the big one). Such a fun quiet place to stay, especially because Katey stays with Nana & Pappy back at the big cabin and they can get up early in the morning with her to watch the deer while Mama & Daddy sleep in!
The day before we left we decided to go site seeing and went an an awesome, very bumpy, very fun drive to an old mine.
Pappy knows how to make her smile! :)
And he gets rewarded for it :)
Hi Mommy!
very excited to walk with Daddy and play drums on his head :)
She even went for a walk with pappy and brought back something very special!
She was so excited about her gift! And mommy treasured it :)
And then back home to play!
Water trough works perfect for a pool!
and a strainer on the head completes the ensemble.
Such a show off!
Pappy's in there too!
Sunbathing with Daddy.
Then wrap her up in a towell....
And inside for a book and night night with Daddy :)
Last night camp fire would not be complete...
without watermelon...
and S' Mores!
Hehe, she really liked them :)
I will always be sad to leave this gorgeous place and miss my parents so much more after we've been there for a week. But it truly was an amazing visit and I have lots of good memories to help hold me over for a little bit :)
