Bridal Veil Falls

Sunday afternoon after church Emily, our friend Scott, and I went out to Bridal Veil Falls to take some photos. I learned quite a bit about shooting in the "Creative" zone as Canon calls it, where you control the settings on the camera. All of these photos were shot in Av or Manual mode for all the photo nerd friends of mine who I know are looking at this blog. I also learned a bit about lighting as Scott brought along all 200+ pounds of his gear including several flashes and a massive reflector. A little editing was done in Adobe Lightroom.

Emily was so patient as I fiddled with all the settings (I shot over 160 photos, to give you an idea of how long we were out there and how long she had to sit and wait for me to get it "just right"). I'm so blessed to have such a beautiful wife. She wears pregnancy so well... in fact some random 'old biker guy' as Emily called him, came right up to her when we stopped at the Vista House to tell her how beautiful she looked. Unfortunately I think I was putting a flash on my camera so I didn't get to capture that wonderful moment. It was very very windy at the Vista House view point as you can see...

As I mentioned already, Scott brought his gear along too... in fact I wouldn't be able to take photos without his gear because I'm using his lenses (thanks Scott). So we got some photos of us too. I probably should have anticipated this and dressed more appropriately, but I thought I would be behind the camera...

All in all it was a great day. Beautiful weather, beautiful environment, and a beautiful wife... now we just need that beautiful baby to finish cooking so I can start taking pictures of her.
