Brookings!

It seems like the majority of the times we travel down to visit Joe's parents in Brookings, OR it happens like this. Joe calls me thursday afternoon "Hey honey, what do we have going on this weekend?". "Um...this this (nothing too big)...why?" "Oh my parents are missing us..."

Skip to the next day and you see Emily scrambling around like a mad women trying to get the car packed and us driving the 6-7 hour drive the next afternoon! This time was NOO different :).

It was an awesome weekend though and totally worth the impromptu trip. Here are a few... (Ok A LOT) of pics from this last weekend. Warning to all readers...I do mean A LOT of pics :).

Friday night
We got there @ 10 pm. Just enough time to get some good snuggles in and head to bed!

Saturday=Work day!

Of course we had to start with some breakfast...Grapes are Katey's fav!
Look at those puppy dog eyes!

Then we headed outside to paint. Katey hung out in her pack and play in cool shade while the rest of us work our butts off painting front of the house.

She was such a good sport! She played in there for over an hour all by herself!

So then we rewarded ourselves and went geo-caching in the evening!

Grammy got a little side-tracked :)

It was SUCH a gorgeous place and day!

This was Joe's 99th geo-cache find!

And this was his 100th

This was the view from the above picture, and this was just looking south.
If we had only had a wide angle lens.... :)

We had to rush down to another lookout (of course it had a geo-cache there too...) to catch the sunset, it was so gorgeous!

I love my little family!

Sunday=The best ribs I've ever had!

My in-laws have absolutely PERFECTED smoking ribs in their made-at-home super smoker!

9 Full sides of Ribs!

YUM!!!

This is the smoker that my father-in-law MADE!

There was SOO much food!

It took nearly ALL day to cook...but was SOO worth it (especially cause I didn't have to do any of the work...just the eating :) )

Katey watched from the window in anticipation for her Daddy to come in....

"Katey, where's your Daddy?"

"Yay, you got him!"

Then she helped Grammy make the home-made bbq sauce!

Grammy thought she'd give her a taste...

"Mmm, thats yummy!"

"I want more!"

Daddy made his famous pies!

And Katey helped!

She's such a big help in the kitchen!

"Oh, Hi Grandpa!"

"I love my Grandpa."

So we had to invite a bunch of people over to help us eat the ribs!

The ribs were SOO good, but Katey did kinda steal the show.

She was a hoot chewing on her potato skins and wash rag! There also was an incredibly interesting episode that involved A LOT of whip cream. Thanks grandpa, that was a fun memory :)

Monday

Monday Katey & I hung out at the house while Daddy, Grammy & Grandpa went hard-core geo-caching!

We had LOTS of fun exploring Grammy & Grandpa's house!

Such a Q-T in her little jean jacket.

So, all in all it was a GREAT trip and now we are back to our own bed/crib and attempting to resume routine...I'll let you know how that goes :)
